How pricing works. Small jobs quoted from a photo, same day. Bigger jobs get a free site visit anywhere from Bethlehem to Papamoa. You get one fixed number before anything starts, and no surprises after.

When a deck needs work

Soft spots when you walk on it, boards cupping or splitting, rails that move, or a deck that's just grey and tired after a few Bay of Plenty summers. Sometimes it's a few boards. Sometimes the joists underneath have gone and it's a rebuild. We'll tell you which after a look, not guess from the top.

How a deck job goes
  1. Photo or a quick visitSmall repairs from a photo. Anything structural we come and look under it.
  2. Repair or rebuild, priced both waysIf it's borderline you'll see both numbers and choose.
  3. Booked and builtBoard replacement is a day. A rebuild is a few, and we'll say how many.
  4. Finished properlySanded or stained if you want it, offcuts gone.
How deck pricing works

Depends on size, timber and whether it's boards only or the frame too. Fixed price before we start, and we'll flag if a rebuild needs council consent.

Deck questions
Does a deck need consent?

Low decks usually don't. Higher than 1.5m or attached in certain ways can. We'll tell you before quoting a rebuild and point you to Tauranga City Council if it does.

Can you match the existing timber?

Usually close enough that after staining you won't see it. We'll show you the options.

How long will it last?

Done with the right timber and fixings, decades. Most failures we see are from cheap fixings that rust out in the salt air and no gap for drainage.
